There is a whole lot more to football (or soccer if you happen to be living in America) than what they show you on dish football. To truly appreciate the amount of dedication and dexterity necessary to master the sport, you must do one of two things: 1) play the sport yourself or 2) become more actively involved in some other way.
The American Youth Soccer Organization (or AYSO) gives parents the opportunity to become more actively involved in the sports their kids are playing through a number of ways:
- Fundraising efforts to help provide children with uniforms, trophies and even functions like pizza parties and dinners.
- Training and strategy meetings to give parents a chance to see how they can better contribute to the success of their children and the team.
- Opportunities for coaching allowing some parents the chance to make a difference in the lives of young athletes in the area.
Those are just some of the features that anyone can enjoy when they become a part of the American Youth Soccer Association.
So quit watching soccer on the TV and wishing you could be a part of that world. Strike out and see how you can contribute to the soccer community happening in and around your neck of the woods.
